The beach is, of course, the main draw of Makadi Bay. This is a beautiful sandy beach that slopes gently into the sea and is therefore also very suitable for children. You can snorkel or dive well here. The coral reefs are phenomenal and you will see many types of multicolored fish. Divers can also explore a number of shipwrecks just off the coast.

Between the gigantic mountain ranges lie two of the oldest monasteries in Egypt. The St. Anthony and St. Paul Monastery are both well worth a visit. Although it is at least three hours away, a visit to the historic city of Luxor is well worth it. The sight of the majestic pyramids is an experience you will never forget.

It is quite a drive from Makadi Bay to Luxor. With a multi-day excursion you can combine a relaxing beach holiday with the cultural sights of ancient Egypt and even with a short Nile cruise.

Also book an excursion inland for a day or night. You can view the impressive sand dunes by camel, jeep or quad or drive further into the mountains. In addition, you will see a breathtaking starry sky during an overnight stay. No clouds, no light pollution and no air pollution here. You see many more stars here than in the Netherlands. Definitely worth it.
